
Destin is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Black Creek Youth Initiative (BCYI). With over a decade of experience in community organizing, social work, and youth leadership, he has dedicated his life to creating spaces where young people feel supported, empowered, and equipped to thrive.
A graduate of the University of Toronto’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program, Destin combines professional expertise with lived experience to advocate for equity, access to education, and systemic change. His leadership has guided BCYI from a grassroots youth group into a recognized charitable organization, supporting hundreds of youth and families in the Black Creek community through mentorship, education, and violence prevention programs.
Beyond BCYI, Destin is an adjunct professor at Seneca College, a board member and advisor to multiple community organizations, and a recognized speaker on issues of migration, racial justice, and resilience.
When not leading programs or teaching, Destin enjoys fatherhood, exploring creative outlets such as writing and podcasting, and building connections that inspire lasting change.
